Andis (BTF-2) SlimLine 2 Trimmer (23885)
The Andis SlimLine 2 BTF-2 is a cord/cordless T-blade trimmer for maintaining beards and mustaches, tidying necklines and outlining around the ears. Its fine cutting teeth suit close detail work, while a soft-grip section in the upper housing provides a comfortable contact area as you change the angle of the tool.
This model uses a single-speed rotary motor rated at 6,000 strokes per minute and weighs 4.5 ounces. The fitted stainless-steel T-blade is Andis item 22945. That combination gives you a lightweight tool for shaping edges and handling routine touch-ups, with attachment combs available in the kit for controlling the amount of hair left behind.
The nickel-metal-hydride battery supports cordless operation, and Andis's catalog specifies approximately one hour of running time. If the battery runs low during a trimming job, the adapter cord can be connected to continue working. The trimmer does not charge while it is operating on the cord. For charging, switch the tool off; a green light indicates the adapter connection. The manual calls for a 12-hour initial charge and an overnight recharge.
The dual-voltage adapter has a manual 120 V/240 V selector that must be set correctly before connecting it to an outlet. The kit also provides a trimmer stand, blade guard, cleaning brush and blade oil. Brush away cut hair and oil the blade before, during and after use, wiping off surplus oil with a soft cloth. The internal mechanism is factory lubricated, so routine care focuses on the exposed cutting assembly. Keep the tool out of water and follow the BTF-2 manual when replacing its screw-mounted blade set.
