Aesculap Econom Shearing Blade Set GT518, 1 mm (GT518)

The Aesculap GT518 Econom shearing blade set is a 1 mm close-cutting combination for cattle and horses. It includes the GT501 upper cutter with 15 teeth and the GT511 lower comb with 31 teeth, a pairing Aesculap describes as finely serrated.

The exact lower-comb reference is important when selecting this set. GT518 and the 3 mm GT517 share 15/31 tooth counts, but use different combs and have different stated cutting lengths. Choose GT518 when the verified 1 mm specification is the required result from the blade combination.

The blades are made from carbon steel and receive a wear-resistant surface coating. CNC machining forms the components, while vacuum hardening establishes their hardness. Their cutting surfaces can be professionally reground as part of normal servicing when the edges dull.

Keep the blades and clipping head free of trapped hair before fitting the set. Follow the machine instructions for positioning and cutting-pressure adjustment, and lubricate the cutting surfaces before and during use. Dry, oiled storage helps protect the steel between jobs. The GT501 and GT511 references also identify the individual components if one blade later needs replacement or separate attention from a sharpening service.
