Heiniger 31 Bottom Blade (703-310)

The Heiniger 31 Bottom Blade is the lower replacement blade used in Heiniger’s standard horse clipping combinations. Part 703-310 is intended for clean coats and produces a remaining coat length of 2–4 mm when paired in the manufacturer’s listed 31/15 or 31/23 blade sets. It is a useful choice when that standard clipping length suits the horse’s grooming requirements.

Heiniger lists two matching upper blades: top blade 15, part 703-200, and top blade 23, part 703-220. Check the upper blade designation when replacing the lower component so the pair corresponds to one of these documented combinations. This listing identifies the individual bottom blade; the complete combinations have their own set numbers.

The bottom blade stays fixed while the upper blade moves across it. Correct alignment, appropriate blade pressure, and regular lubrication are part of maintaining that cutting action. Follow your clipper’s installation instructions, brush out accumulated hair, and keep the blades lubricated. Have dull cutting edges assessed for professional sharpening.
