The Andis Excel 5-Speed+ is a corded detachable-blade clipper for professional dog grooming, with speed settings that let you adjust the tool as you move between coat work and smaller areas. Its rotary motor offers five speeds across a 2,500–4,500-stroke-per-minute range. The blue housing has a soft, contoured grip, and a 14-foot cord provides working reach around the grooming table.

Speed selection is useful throughout a groom. Andis recommends the lower settings around the face, belly and beneath the tail, and when introducing puppies or inexperienced dogs to clipping. Higher settings are intended for body-coat work and dogs already comfortable with grooming. Separate up and down buttons let you change speed without changing blades.

A size 10 CeramicEdge blade, marked for a 1.5 mm cut, comes with the clipper. Its detachable mounting makes blade changes and access for cleaning straightforward. The Excel also accepts Andis UltraEdge, CeramicEdge and M Force detachable blades, giving you options when a different cutting length is needed. Blade oil and an additional blade drive are included with the tool.

Regular blade care remains part of everyday use. Brush accumulated hair from the cavity beneath the removed blade, and oil the cutting surfaces before, during and after clipping as directed in the manual. Wipe away excess oil and check blade temperature frequently, particularly during close cutting. A spare blade of the same size can help you continue working while a warm blade cools. The internal mechanism is factory lubricated; routine blade maintenance does not require opening or oiling the motor. This model operates from a 120 V, 60 Hz supply.
